A sustainable & family friendly way of life

Trains - how to get around

If travelling by train is more your style, Seabrook Orchards is within walking or cycling distance from two railway stations – the brand new Newcourt (opened in 2015) and Topsham stations both have easy pedestrian access and cycle parking facilities.

Both Newcourt and Topsham Stations are on the scenic Avocet Line which travels down the Exe Estuary to Exmouth – perfect for a day out at the seaside, as well as into the city centre to Exeter Central and Exeter St. Davids.

Exeter St. Davids is the city’s main station for long-distance train travel and has fast and frequent rail services to London, Bristol, Plymouth, Birmingham and beyond – allowing easy access to the whole of the UK, and even Europe via the Channel Tunnel!

Explore Devon by train and enjoy stunning coastal views

You’ll normally need to buy a ticket before you board the train. At larger stations you can buy a ticket from the booking office, or from self-service ticket machines. At smaller stations like Newcourt there is only a self-service ticket machine.  You can also buy many ticket in advance, either by phone, or online (see website links below), although you will need a credit or debit card. This can save you a lot of money, but you need to make sure you travel on the train you book as refunds aren’t always available.

You may be able to save even more money by spliting the ticketing on your journey into several stages (without getting off the train) - see Split Tickets website link below.
